We are the recently formed Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka. Our mission and purpose is to create, for the first time in our history, a national body that will oversee and govern the development of the sport of surfing in Sri Lanka for all men and women.
We face a unique situation in that we must unite several cultures, religions and languages into our quest to become a surfing nation. Not an easy task, but one that we feel is worthwhile in order to create a sustainable, active, responsible and competitive future for present and future generations of Sri Lankan surfers.

Hopefully, in the not too distant future, we will be able to present a successful and viable multi-cultural role model to the world for both surfing and business combined.
Our Future Goals
1. The creation of several active surfing clubs.
2. Coordinate an Annual National Surfing Competition Series
3. Become members of the International Surfing Association
4. Be included in the worldwide surfing industry and encourage sponsorship of our surfers
5. Prepare a National Team and participate in international surfing competitions and events
6. Improve the level of surfing, coaching and judging standards in the country
7. Provide a pathway for our surfers to excel on the national and global surfing stage and be noted
8. Encourage government recognition, funding and support of surfing in Sri Lanka
9. Promote conservation and protection of surfing and coastal resources in Sri Lanka
10. Have a responsible voice in the future of world surfing

THE SURFING FEDERATION OF SRI LANKA
The Surfing Federation will encourage the future development of the sport for all Sri Lankans. It will also help create a platform of surfing competition, water safety and environmental protection for all of Sri Lanka’s coastal communities. This will benefit all present and future generations of surfers and beach users who utilize these shores.
Your generosity and support of this program for “our talent-rich but resource-poor surfers” can make a difference – change the destiny of youth and perhaps save lives in the future – perhaps even your own. As an organization or an individual, you can donate and pledge support to our program by contacting the Surfing Federation through this website.
At present, our Federation provides a volunteer lifeguard service and Beach Clean Up Program. We are present at most well known Sri Lankan surfing locations and receive no outside help or national support despite our community service. We do this because we care about the water safety, health and protection of the many local and foreign visitors and surfers who visit our coastline each year from Hikkaduwa and Unawatuna to Weligama and Arugam Bay.
You can help us realize our dream for the present and future through the provision of technical assistance, funding, sport promotion and sponsorship. This will enable our Surfing Federation to have the means to acquire the necessary surfing, competition equipment and safety gear required.
This enables our clubs to have the resources and capabilities they need to develop the sport on regional and national levels to boys and girls, men and women. It also provides us with the means necessary to continue our education and regular activity programs for the preservation and protection of the Sri Lankan coastal environment.
